lab-grown diamonds
Diamonds are beautiful, powerful, meaningful. But what are lab-grown diamonds exactly?
Whether they are called "laboratory grown", "man made", or "artisan created", it all means the same thing.
A lab-grown diamond is a mineral gem made of carbon atoms. It is optically, physically, and chemically exactly the same as mined diamonds. Even to a trained eye and under magnification, a lab-grown diamond cannot be distinguished from its mined counterpart with 100% certainty. The only thing that differentiates the two: their origin.
There's two different ways to grown a diamond: HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) and CVD (chemical vapor deposition). To read more about the methods, visit our blog post titled How are lab-grown diamonds actually grown?
One thing is certain: they are genuine. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds!

THE TRUe eco-friendly OPTION
Lab-grown diamonds are often considered sustainable compared to traditionally mined diamonds for several reasons:
1- Environmental Impact: Mining for diamonds can have significant environmental consequences, including habitat destruction, soil erosion, and water pollution. Lab-grown diamonds, on the other hand, do not require land disturbance and have a much lower carbon footprint since they don't involve large-scale mining operations.
2- Reduced Energy Consumption: While lab-grown diamonds do require energy for their production, the amount is often less compared to the energy-intensive processes involved in traditional diamond mining and extraction. A growing number of facilities operate on solar and wind energy, making them extremely energy efficient and sometimes even completely carbon neutral!
3- Conflict-Free: One of the biggest ethical concerns surrounding traditional diamonds is the issue of conflict diamonds, also known as blood diamonds, which are mined in war zones and sold to finance armed conflicts. Lab-grown diamonds are inherently conflict-free, as they are produced in controlled laboratory environments and away from war zones.
